Window Types

There are many replacement window types, here is an explanation of the most common and popular.

Sash Windows (Vertical or Horizontal Sliders)

Vertical Slider windows incorporate all the desirable, traditional features of an authentic sash window but with the convenience and low maintenance of PVCu. Tailor made to any size and supplied to your specification of finish, furniture and extras.

Horizontal slider windows have sashes that glide horizontally. They are a space-saving option and are ideal for rooms with limited vertical space.

Sash windows come complete with multi-point locking. Classic style brass catches and optional decorative horns replicate the traditional design to complete an authentic effect particularly suitable for period houses. Vertical Sliders have already been approved and installed successfully in conservation areas across the UK.

The slim sash is designed specifically to replicate the more elegant sightlines of traditional wooden windows. Engineered from REHAU profiles, quality assurance is guaranteed.

Many glazing options are available to suit your individual choice such as Pilkington patterned glass for privacy. The built-in tilt feature means that you can clean both sides of the window from the inside of the house.

The slim profile design is available in either the smooth contoured lines we call EDGE or the angular lines of the standard REHAU 706. The weather resistant PVCu material keeps its look for years.

All casement windows come complete with multi-point locking and push button key locking handles. Furniture comes in matching colours, silver, gold and chrome. They are designed with the traditional look of period house or in a conservation area.

Tilt and Turn Windows

Tilt and turn windows use a crafty bit of engineering to offer the ultimate in versatility. Turn the handle once and the window will tilt inwards, opening at the top and providing ventilation. This setting is perfect if you want to avoid causing an obstruction or hazard by opening the window wide.

Close the window and turn the handle upwards and the window opens inwards from the side, offering a large open space and plenty of airflow, and letting the outdoors into your home. At this setting you’ll also be able to reach every part of the glazing, making the tilt ’n’ turn window simplicity itself to clean and maintain. No more window-cleaning worries or expense, no matter how high off the ground your window is set.

The fact that the tilt and turn window opens inwards sets it apart from regular, outward-opening casement windows, and makes it ideal for customers for whom an open-out window is simply not suitable because of space restrictions.

The tilt and turn window is the perfectly versatile year-round product, offering plenty of light and fresh air during the summer months, and providing superb insulation or gentle ventilation in the winter.

Bay Windows

Bay windows have been a popular addition to homes since Victorian times when they first appeared in houses. They serve two purposes: allow more light into a room and they can make a room appear larger than it really is.

Most Bay windows are usually made up of three or more window panes and extend outwards in an arc shape to create a feature window. It provides extra internal space, which can be used as storage or can create a window nook and seating. In addition to flooding a room with light the panoramic design makes the most of your view.
